He is also the co-founder of the production company called Vishesh Films. He graduated in economics from the University of Calcutta in 1993. He was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Calcutta in November 2010. Dasgupta is the husband of Priyanka Dasgupta, who is also a former CEO of BARC. He has two children with his wife.
